How many exercises should i do in a workout?
Honestly! The answer is there is no TRUE answer. Some people may be able to do more and see great results and some may be able to do less and see great results.
When I first started working out. The first 1-3 years I remember I would go into the gym and do SO many exercises. Probably too many. Did I see strength and muscle results? Yes. Looking back on it now, was it ideal or optimal? Probably not. One thing I did do right though is keep the majority of the exercises consistent.
WHAT WOULD I DO DIFFERENTLY IF I COULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN? Simple, I would simplify my training. Instead of doing like 8-10 different exercises with not so optimal effort(not that I didn't push, but I had more in me), I would pick 6-8(on the HIGH end) and make sure the effort with those exercises is relatively high. This will be optimal, and save a TON of time so I wouldn't need to be in the gym for over 2 hours.
We are all busy, simplify...and keep the effort high, and results will come. Last tip for this, prioritize compound movements. These are exercises that use multiple muscle groups. Examples: Chest Press, Row, Lat Pulldown, Squats, Deadlifts, etc.
